Your Library in the Time of Coronavirus

We are still here! During this time of social distancing and “flattening the curve” the building is closed. However, I am working at the library during all regular hours of operation, although we now close at 5:00 pm on Tuesdays. I will answer the phone and email during open hours. Please reach out if you need anything. The contact information is below.

Many library services are still available and I am working on expanding some and making new services available to you. Here is the current list of available services:

Book/Material Exchange

Pick-up of library materials is available during normal operating hours and after-hours. Contact me to ask for specific titles or ask me to pack up a selection of items for you. I will place them in the grey bins on the porch, in a bag with your name on it. You may pick up your items at your convenience. If you have access to a computer, you can browse our collection on-line via Library World, our automated catalog. Go to our website (www.graftonpubliclibrary.org) and click the link on the right.  If you do not have access to a computer, call me. I will work to find something you will like.

Book Returns

Return your books to the book drop. We will disinfect all returned materials and place them in “quarantine” for five days before they circulate. Do not worry about overdue materials at this time, especially if you are self-quarantining or don’t feel well. Please stay at home and be safe.

Wifi

Wifi will stay on and may be accessed from outside the building. The range extends to the porch, picnic table, parking lot and directly in front of the building on Main Street.  Due to social distancing, there is no public access to the public computer, printer or copier at this time. However, if you need something printed or copied, please contact me and I will try to help. If you need a computer and are unable to locate one, please contact the library and I will try to help.

On-Line Resources

Patrons have access to e-books and audio-books 24/7 through ListenUp! Vermont. If you don’t have a unique card number for ListenUp!,  please contact me and I will get you set up. We also have access to the Vermont On-line Library and classes through Universal Class. All of these on-line services can be accessed through our website. We have purchased a subscription to Zoom and soon will be setting up some on-line programs soon. Stay tuned!

Facebook

Look for us on Facebook. In addition to sharing community announcements, follow “Love in the Time of Coronavirus” on our Facebook page. Each day I post something informative, educational, uplifting and fun. Our link for Facebook is https://www.facebook.com/graftonpubliclibraryvt/

Other Communication

I will maintain communication via email, our website, our Facebook page, The Grafton News and the Athenian. Updates specific to the library as well as local and state announcements of importance will be shared.

When will the library re-open to the public? The library trustees will be discussing this at upcoming board meetings. Stay tuned! At this point, our highest priority is the safety of our patrons, staff and the larger community. We will strive to provide as many services as possible during this time. We welcome your feedback. Please stay in touch and be well.
