Approve minutes from last meeting:  Approved both April and May’s minutes

Treasurer’s Report:   Transfers were made from the Jerry Stevens Fund and the main TIAA fund to the library checking account, completing all transfers for this fiscal year.  The state auditors will be at Town Hall in August.  Preparations are in process for the annual audit.

Librarian’s Report:   All library financial reports and reconciliations are up to date.  The Summer Performer Grant will be issued to the library next week.  The air purifier and computers from the GIA grant have arrived and are in the process of being set up.  The Banned Books group continues to happen monthly with enthusiastic participants.  There was a Neighbor-to-Neighbor Program with Peter Canellos on May 27th to discuss his new book, The Revenge of the Sixties., Attendance was at maximum capacity.  The program was well received and pertinent.  The planning and execution for our participation in the town’s parade is well underway.  The celebration will take place on Saturday, June 27th.

New Business:   The G.I.A has approached the library about the possibility of installing a taller flagpole and provide lighting for the pole. Michelle recommended the board draft a memorandum of understanding that outlines their responsibility for the construction and upkeep of the flagpole   and lighting before any changes are made.  It was decided that fund raising needs to be discussed order to brainstorm ideas for a process to identify those who are interested in supporting the library and solicit funds.  Donna suggested using the donor engagement lifecycle to guide the process.  We will discuss it at the next board meeting.

Old Business:   We are still awaiting word about the HUD grant.  We should hear in July or August.  The TIAA paperwork needs review and completion.  Galen will invite someone from TIAA to walk us through the process of what needs to be signed by whom.  The budget for FY27 was voted on and approved by the board and includes an 8% raise for Michelle Dufort and Angel Squiers to $28.62 and $19.53 per hour respectively, to begin with the first pay period of this fiscal year, which begins July 1, 2026.  The building, grounds and equipment use policy was amended and approved with a few minor corrections and the removal of language regarding submission of Certificates of Insurance and/or waivers. Our VLCT -PACIF building insurance covers all use of the library by non-library groups inside the building and on the grounds. Submission of a Certificate of Insurance is not necessary.
