Grafton Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting-Hybrid Format

Treasurer’s Report: Approved

Librarian’s Report:

The Nature & Books Series on Zoom, co-sponsored with the Nature Museum, starts the first of three fall sessions in October.

The music concert with Marcos Levy at the Grafton Elementary School sponsored by the library using funds from the VT DOL summer performer grant and the Russell/Paulsens, went very well.

We are having some internet connectivity issues and Michelle is working with Computers by Ken to troubleshoot. We may need to replace the router.

The Gingerbread House Extravaganza planning is underway. This main event will coincide with Christmas in Grafton on December 9.

Old Business:

Michelle will contact Lawrence and Loeber to see if they will do the needed electrical work.

New Business:

Mary Beth will write a draft annual appeal letter and distribute it to the board. Suggested edits should be sent directly to Mary Beth and not discussed via email with the entire board (open meeting law). A draft will be ready for approval at the October 30 meeting—so all edits need to be submitted to Mary Beth before that meeting.

Mary Beth will also write the narrative report for the Town of Grafton for submission to the Town Report. Michelle will send last year’s report to Mary Beth as well as updated statistics.

Jay, Kathleen and Michelle will meet with Chris of Ecohouses of Vermont on Zoom to prepare a prioritized list of building projects to be used to formulate the FY25 pro forma budget and to add to Jay’s building maintenance plan. The date of this Zoom meeting is TBD. Kathleen and Michelle will meet directly after the Zoom meeting to work on the pro forma budget and make notes for the October 16 meeting with the Town of Grafton (budget presentation and request).

The board will combine the November and December board meetings into one and meet on Monday, December 4 at 10am.
