Board voted to approve last month’s minutes

Treasurer’s Report

The Board approved the transfer of funds from our Bond Fund to cover the expense of the new carpet and repair on the front door.  The raw estimates for the projects are $3,000 for the carpet and $500 for the door.  Also noted was that the Bodman grant has not been received yet.  The grantee is waiting for information about the carpeting.

Librarian’s Report –

Tania Evans and Wendy Martin have donated many newly published books, some to go in the sale room, the remainder into our collection.  A thank you note will be sent to both.

An air purifier has been ordered.

Our hours will be expanding near the end of October to include Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Monday.  There was a discussion about the use of the back of the Children’s Section for internet use, as well as upstairs.

The FY budget reflects the cost of living payroll increases.  Our financial report is due in November for the Town Report.

Old Business

The Librarian’s evaluation is completed.

Building and Grounds –

There are two estimates for replacing the carpet in the front two rooms.  A third vendor will be contacted to provide a final bid.  It was decided that a dark blue tweed was the board’s first choice. Lucia and Jay were delegated to accept the final bid, then notify the Board by email.

Jay has examined the entire property and is in the process of developing a 10 Year Plan.  In the spring he will look under the porch for rot.

New Business –

There were two appeal letters submitted for approval.  It was decided that the edited version of previous letters was more acceptable as the top choice for an appeals letter.  We will use the same margins and letter head.  The letter will be printed and sent out with all possible speed.  It was decided to publish Lucia’s letter in next month’s Grafton News.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:03.
